Shih-Ann Chen, MD, is Professor of Medicine at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University School of Medicine, Honorary Superintendent in Taichung Veterans General Hospital, Taichung, Taiwan, also Adjunct Professor at Case Western Reserve University, Ohio, USA. Prof. Chen and his group members are devoted to investigate the mechanisms and ablation techniques for different types of cardiac arrhythmias, and published more than 1,000 original articles in journals and textbooks. Further, he is one of the world pioneers to develop atrial fibrillation ablation technique. He was appointed as the chairman of the writing group for the chapter of atrial fibrillation mechanism in the consensus document of Atrial Fibrillation Ablation by Heart Rhythm /European Heart Rhythm /Asia-Pacific Heart Rhythm Society from 2007 to 2017. Further, he was the founder and president of the Asia-Pacific Heart Rhythm Society in 2012 and 2013, congress president of 2012 and 2018 Asia-Pacific Heart Rhythm Society annual scientific session.

陳適安教授是世界心律不整電燒治療領域的先驅。2000年更獨步全球提出整套「非肺靜脈起源性的心房顫動」的理論，並在臨床上首創使用頻譜分析電生理訊號方式來輔助心房顫動電燒手術，以增進手術的成功率。2006年，美國心律學會邀請撰寫非肺靜脈心房顫動的鑑別診斷及治療方法，也被全球醫界喻為「臺北方法」，讓更多心律不整患者受惠。陳教授於學術上的成就，獲獎無數並承接諸多國家任務，例如:擔任科技部「推動台灣智慧醫療聯盟以加速智慧醫材之臨床試驗計畫」主持人、國際智慧醫療專案(台印、台菲)主持人、衛生福利部三大AI中心之第二中心召集人等，全力協助國家發展智慧醫療，更帶領台中榮總獲選為美國《Newsweek》雜誌評選，全球百大最佳智慧醫院，為全國唯一醫院。因傑出的臨床技術創新與學術成就，2010年榮獲美國心臟病學會Simon Dack傑出學術獎(亞洲唯一獲獎)、2013年亞太心臟協會「傑出心臟病專家獎」、2024年日本心臟醫學會榮譽國際院士、及工業技術研究院院士殊榮。
